After it all was sorted out regarding the sale of Cubaneren we thought we were going to have an uneventful week with sightseeing and relaxing around the San Francisco Bay.
On the Sunday after returning from Ballena Marina where we had spent a couple of days, because Encinal YC hosted an arrangement for wheelchair users, we could not find the car we have been borrowing from Wolfgang at the parking lot. After some phone calls and commotion, we found that the car had been towed away! Wolfgang was in Mexico, we are Norwegians driving around in an American car and so on… Ted from Azure helped us again with getting to the towing company, but no car out from there on a Sunday, so on second attempt on Monday we finally got it out. We had not parked illegal so we have actually got our money back and it has turned out to be a good story, but when we were in it, it was a bit frustrating…
The day after Berit arrived at SF Airport and the vacation could start. We have been taken up to Napa Valley for winetasting and fantastic food by Ted and Dana. Ted also took us up the spectacular road to the top of Mount Diablo. We have been walking around in the streets of San Francisco; Seen the sea lions on Pier 39, photographed ourselves in front of Alcatraz, been in Chinatown and enjoying the pool and facilities at Encinal Yacht club.
Berit was our last guest on board Cubaneren, as the boat now is handed over to Ian, who we are very happy that turned out to be the next captain. We wish good luck, fair winds and happy sailing and hope that Ian can explore the same joy of Cubaneren as we have had!
