Our carbon footprint has been great the last one and a half year but unfortunately it has not been too good the last ten days as it feels like we have spent more time on airplanes than on solid ground (or floating). We went as planned to Chiapas to do a rig job but also to see a little bit more of the area. As tourists we enjoyed a visit in the mountains on the coffee route. We also enjoyed the last heat on the beach before going north and to the cold weather for the next half year. Again, we met Sally and Stan Honey and had a dinner with them.
The marina took a beating in the tsunami that followed the earthquake in the beginning of September. All the outriggers went over the top of the poles, got stuck and broke apart when the water disappeared. It was 17-18 waves that came in the through the narrow sound, the water went up and down 3 – 4 meters and also the engine for the travel lift came under salt water. Now, approximately 20 people are rebuilding the facilities, and everything is running at full speed again in a month.
In the mountains we visited the Finca Agrovia, had a great lunch, got a guided tour around the coffee production facilities and enjoyed the quietness and nice scenery. On the way back towards Chiapas, in the city of Tapachula the heaven opened up at it was like driving on rivers.
From 39 degrees Celsius in south of Mexico we found ourselves in warmer clothes 2 days later on the south coast of England, but very happy on board our new boat. We spent 2 days on board, figuring out what parts we needed to order, decide when to haul out and get to know the area where we are going to be for the next 5 weeks while waiting for our things to arrive from California.
The 12-17 degrees Celsius we had in Gosport was yet very hot to what we found this weekend when we have visited family and friends in Trondheim. The winter has just about started and there is snow in the air. Tomorrow we are going to drive south, over the mountains and up there the winter has been for a couple of weeks already, so we will have experienced some change in temperature the last week.
