Trondheim 12.06.17
For the first time in 11 months we are not going to sleep on board Cubaneren. We are very lucky with having found Oceanside with all the great sailors and members that has been welcoming us, and that the yacht club had a slip available for us for the 10 days we had planned to og «home» to Norway. We took the train to LA and had a couple of hours there before we got on the plane directly to Oslo.
We have until now had some busy days. Visit at the dentist and other nessecary stuff was done as quiclky as possible and after that we have met family and friends. Karl Otto has not been able to keep off the sailing and Maren has of all things not kept off swimming!
Karl Otto sailed the Tuesday evening – race with Otto, doublehanded on the Victory 42. We did a good race and finished 6 minutes before the next boat in changing conditions. At the same day Maren, Karin and Berit took a swim in 13-14 degrees celcius.
Karl Otto also joined Eowyn (First 36.7) on the Faerder Race. This race is called the biggest overnight race in the world. This year it was about 650 boats starting from Oslo on Friday afternoon in extremely light conditions. There was a couple of «restarts» that we did not quite get right but sometime during the night the wind setteled and the last hours towards Faerder lighthouse and back to finish line outside Tonsberg was in good sailing conditions.
On Saturday evening Berit arranged a barbeque evening for us and friends and it was great to «hook up» again with all of you!
Now we are in Trondheim and continue to hook up with Marens family and Friends. Anita is hosting us and as always we have been greatly welcomed!
(These photos are shot 2300 – 11 pm and the Norwegian summer is great)
We are returning to Cubaneren on Wednesday – and now we are focusing at the maximum to Transpac!
